Guide
The English (Gregorian) Calendar viewer displays the current month in a clean, navigable grid format, with the ability to browse forward and backward through months and years. While every phone and computer has a built-in calendar app, a dedicated browser-based calendar viewer is useful for quick reference, embedding in workflows, and sharing calendar views without requiring app access or account logins.
The Gregorian calendar was introduced by Pope Gregory XIII in October 1582, replacing the Julian calendar which had accumulated a 10-day drift from the astronomical solar year over 1,600 years. The key correction: century years (1700, 1800, 1900) are only leap years if they're also divisible by 400 (so 1900 was not a leap year but 2000 was). This adjustment keeps the Gregorian calendar aligned with the Earth's orbit to within 1 day per 3,236 years.
Today the Gregorian calendar is the international civil standard used by virtually every country for commerce, diplomacy, and official records — even countries that maintain a separate traditional calendar (like Nepal's Bikram Sambat) for cultural and religious purposes.
Date planning without switching apps: When working in a browser — filling out a form, booking travel, scheduling an email — having a calendar open in a separate tab is faster than switching to a phone or desktop calendar app.
Month overview: See the full layout of a month's weekdays and weekends before scheduling appointments or estimating project timelines.
Historical calendar lookup: Navigate to past months to verify what day of the week a specific date fell on — useful for confirming when an event occurred, calculating days of the week for invoices or contracts, or checking holiday scheduling.
Date-to-day mapping: Quickly determine that March 1, 2025 is a Saturday, or that April 15 is a Tuesday, without mental calendar arithmetic.
Nepal-specific usage: In Nepal, the Gregorian calendar is the official business and government calendar, while the Bikram Sambat calendar is used for traditional events. The English Calendar tool provides the Gregorian reference; see our Nepali Calendar for BS dates and our AD ↔ BS Date Converter to convert between the two systems.
