A Date Difference Calculator computes the exact elapsed time between any two calendar dates — how many days, weeks, months, and years separate them — handling all the calendar complexities (varying month lengths, leap years, century rules) that make this deceptively difficult to do correctly by hand.
The naive approach — counting the approximate number of days between two dates — fails quickly. Months have 28, 29, 30, or 31 days depending on the month and year. Leap years add one extra day every four years (with exceptions in century years). A hand calculation can be off by days across long spans, which matters enormously in legal contracts, project plans, and compliance deadlines.

Finance: Bond coupon calculations, loan start-to-maturity durations, and interest accrual periods all depend on precise day counts. Different day-count conventions (Actual/365, Actual/360) can produce materially different interest amounts.
